On the 14th April 1999 the application has been approved by the registrar of societies.Initially the name was Amateur Radio Club Kuching (RACK). The pioneer group of active amateurs comprising of just a handful has put up their intention to form a club just like other radio club. Anticipating the need to have such an organisation with the sole purpose i.e to represent local amateurs as a body. The Club was officially approved by the Registrar of Society on the 7th October 1994 , marked a history and is also the anniversary date for the club. In order to spread its wing further to other Divisions the new working committee superseding the former has put on working paper to form ARCS (Amateur Radio Club Sarawak). It was finally agreed by the members at the 4th annual general meeting. On the 14th April 1999 the application has been approved by the registrar of societies.
HAM RADIO TO PLAY A MORE CRUCIAL ROLE DURING DISASTERS
The Government has yet to constitute to empowered with special provisions to utilize Amateur (Ham) Radio Service when such a natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods, cyclones and wide spread fire which causes failure of normal telecommunication facilities.
