As you are all aware that the Long Range Cordless phone have infested the 130-180 Mhz band, more so causing severe QRM to the 144 - 147 Mhz Ham band. These LRCs have a range of more than 15-20 kms causing sever damage to repeaters. These LRC are obtainable easily from local outlets selling imported Chinese goods at a very low price. Telephones, along with newspaper articles mentioning its nuisance and illegality to create awareness among the general public. and the authority should take appropriate measure before they are out of control.

JOTA IS AROUND THE CORNER
The date to watch out is on the 3rd week of October. It is a world wide Jamboree activities for
all the scout and scout girl. Preparation has been on going and the centre will be at SMK Kota Semarahan.

ARCS members has been invited to give a support.
O n behalf of SMK Gedong, 9W8WAN has requested ARCS to participate in the school event. Given to understand we will be allocated 1 booth for setting up a station. On display will be radio equiptments, books,magazines and etc. From the site we will try to establish radio contact via Echo-link with outside world if the broadband provided by the school have no restriction on its proxy. The option to make use of direct link with the club repeater should the proxy does not allow us, by operating on the DTMF remote to search for required node, which is not a problem at all.

Venue - SMK Gedong
If you have a free time please do join in making the crowd bigger as there will be several Gedong goodies that you can sampled from the foodstall.
A Member of Parliament for Batang Sadong (YB Nancy Shukri) will officially declare the event.
YEAR 2010 EVENTS
The 3rd Malaysian JOTA for 2010, will kick off on 14th May - 16th May 2010. There will be 3 stations participating from three different venue.
1. Scout Headquarters Kuching (9M8ST)
2. SMK Sri Sadong (9M4SJQ)
3. Bintulu (9M8RC)
Assistance from members are very much appreciated wherever possible to make this JOTA a successful one.
NEWS
9W8WAN with his effort trying to erect the telescopic mast 30 feet up the air, preparation to set up radio station a day earlier before the school events at SMK Gedong. The mast is a Thomson 40 feet telescopic hard drawned alluminium alloy, weighing only 12 Kilos.
